Manicure Monday: OPI Eiffel For This Color & Sally Hansen Midnight Glitz

Hi my loves! It has been forever since my last blog post. Definitely promising myself to keep up with the blog posts this year + I miss you guys (my darling readers) as well! Today’s Mani Monday is a polish my sister actually gifted me (OPI). I also topped it off with the Sally Hansen polish. Let’s check them out below!

 

Sally Hansen’s Midnight Glitz is a polish I recently picked up, it is fairly new to the drugstores. It’s basically a glitter topper & it has gold holographic hex/regular glitter and black matte glitter in a clear base- super pretty! I used one layer of it on my nails & it applied very smoothly. Next up we have OPI’s Eiffel For This Color & it is a dark vampy polish with a bit of purple shimmer to it. I used two coats.

I don’t know about you guys but when I looked at the Midnight glitz polish, I immediately thought that a black polish would go perfectly with it. When it came time to use this baby, I thought “Hey why don’t I use a dark purple polish instead!” Since there were gold glitters in the midnight glitz polish, I thought a deep purple polish would go so perfectly with it- and I was spot on! Using a dark purple polish as the base showcases the matte black glitters & also the gold glitters as well- in a subtle (but different) way of course.

This glitter topper by Sally Hansen- Midnight Glitz will definitely amp up any manicure. It’s not an overly glittery polish, which I appreciate. It just adds the right amount of glitz to your mani!

My amazing Asia experience!

Happy Monday Darlings!

Wow, it has been quite awhile since I’ve last blogged! It’s been crazy busy with coming back to Vancouver just in time for the holidays & with the start of 2012!

I hope you had a wonderful time celebrating the holidays & ringing in the new year!

As you know, I recently took a trip to Asia! Specifically, China – Guangzhou, Macau & Hong Kong.

It was my very first time in those parts of Asia, so everything was all so new & exciting to me!

The one thing that stuck out for me during my time there was how fast paced their lifestyle is over there- I LOVED IT!

Cabs everywhere, tons of people, businesses booming, bright lights, tall buildings & a crazy amount of walking.

As a Vancouver girl, I was so not use to the go go go lifestyle but after awhile I learned to enjoy it & everyday was filled with new and different adventures.

I had such a good time in China, Guangzhou. Everything was insanely affordable- the food, shopping & massages. OMG, massages! It was a much needed daily ritual, after a crazy adventurous day- my poor feet haha!

The one thing I really wanted to see in China was PANDAS! It’s not everyday you get to see one and when I did, I was in such awe. They are the most cutest animals EVER!

Macau was definitely a gamblers dream! Everywhere you look, there was a casino filled with players wanting to win big!! It was a smaller city than Guangzhou but nothing short of Vegas.

If you guys ever head down to Macau, check out the Galaxy hotel because it was hands down the nicest place I’ve ever stayed at & their beds are SOO comfy!

The final stop of my Asia trip was to Hong Kong!

Hong Kong was amazing!! It was filled with tall buildings everywhere, you couldn’t even see the actual city…unless you went to the Peak! So that is exactly what I did and I got to see HK from a mountain top view. Two words, absolutely gorgeous.

I am currently drooling just thinking about the delicious food I ate in Hong Kong. Mango coconut sago drinks, Mc Donald’s gingerbread latte, Loads of fresh seafood, KFC’s seaweed flavoured chicken wings, Green tea shaved ice and the list goes on!

Many memories were made and I will never forget my amazing Asia experience. I LOVE IT there and I cannot wait to go back in the near future.

Hi Everyone!!

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for celebrating DMB’s 1 Year Anniversary with me! Those 12 days of celebrating really left me completely exhausted BUT it was all worth it when I saw all your smiles and happiness! I hope each and everyone of you are enjoying your new jewelry & that one piece gives you a sense of beauty within yourself. You are beautiful & of course jewelry is too! =)

As some of you may know, I will be heading to Asia tomorrow morning. Specifically to Hong Kong, Macau and China! I am beyond excited and I have never been so add an UBER excited to that!

I can’t wait to explore each city, eat some yummy food and take in all the culture & scenery. But more importantly search for unique jewelry supplies so that I can bring them back and create more beautiful pieces for you! Yay!!

Different role & a helping hand

Hi Everyone!

Yesterday night I tweeted, “When I’m in my jewelry zone the day goes by just like that! 2 min rest & off 2 do smth quite diff. than what I’m use to. Will Blog about it!”

My friend from highschool had messaged me about a week ago to ask if I could help him with something. I am the kind of person where if you need help and its do-able on my end, I will 100% help you out!

So, my guy friend asked me if he could please order 2 pieces of jewelry from me for one of his best friend. (DMB’s Crystal clear leaf necklace & Unique bracelet rings) Now here comes the different part of this order… Instead of me personally making his order, he asked if I could show / teach him how to create these 2 pieces from start to finish. He wanted it to be more meaningful so when he gives it to her, he can proudly say “I made this for you” (How awesome & sweet is that?! An amazing friend I must say.)

The lighting in the library was horrible! Friend: I have the Iphone flashlight app! Me: Genius!

Last night, we met up at a local library (so not a place I should be at, I can’t help but speak loud & laugh *get glares from people* aiy…) to get started on his order! At first, it was so weird teaching and not being the one that was making the jewelry but after awhile it was quite neat & interesting to be play a different role. Instead of a jewelry maker, I was a jewelry teacher hehe. *thumbs up!

After a good 1.5 hours (with some laughs & difficulties LOL) he completed the jewelry pieces and I was so impressed on how well he did for his first time of jewelry making. Good job my friend! I hope your bff loves what you had made for her & that you had a fun time creating these pieces.

New Year, 2012

Hi Everyone!

First off, I wanted to say a special thank you for all your sweet messages & well wishes for Dafyne Me Bella’s One Year Anniversary. Each and everyone of you touched my heart.

A new year is soon approaching us, 2012.

For the upcoming year- what I will be doing regards to DMB jewelry is quite simple. Instead of making jewelry with a certain theme to it (like how I did the seasons-spring,summer,etc.) I will be creating pieces based on what I feel like making that day, or if I get inspired by something that caught my eye.

Each piece will be different from the next, it may be one of a kind, super simple or totally extravagant!

I am so excited and I hope you are too!!

HAPPY 1 YR ANNIVERSARY DAFYNE ME BELLA!

Today is a very special day to me.

I cannot believe that it has been exactly one year since the launch of Dafyne Me Bella. Thinking back from November the 8th 2010, to today brings a warm smile to my face. I’ve learned so much, gain so much experience, gone through so many different types of challenges, shed some tears, had lots of laughs, met new and amazing people, worked with such generous individuals and of course – create a variety of unique & eye catching jewelry!

To me, hitting the one year mark to anything is so special and needs to be remembered. I created a Dafyne Me Bella Anniversary necklace so this day can be remembered forever and ever. Although this necklace will not be a part of the celebration deal, it is still not one to miss!

The anniversary necklace is sterling silver from top to bottom. The chain is heart shaped so it’s super special & unique, it has two specific swarovski pendants on it.

The first one is the pegasus pendant, it looks like the wings of a pegasus. I chose this pendant because to me, wings can carry you, lift you up, and take you to new and wonderful beginnings – DMB’s future from here on. The pegasus pendant is striking which means you will never forget it. The second pendant I chose is a swarovski pink crystal heart. Threads, An Affair and A Cut?!

Hi Everyone! Happy Monday!!

So your probably wondering what the blog title “Threads, An Affair and A Cut?!” is all about. Keep on reading and you will soon find out! =)

Today I felt like accessorizing with something a bit funky but subtle. So i decided to wear DMB’s Heart earring threads in red. These earrings are not your average earrings because in order to wear them you have to “thread” them through you ear hole. You just simply insert the metal bar through your ear hole and pull the chain through. It may sound complicated but it is super easy and fun to do! I love wearing them on days where I feel like being a bit different, it adds a bit of dazzle to my ears!

Over the weekend, my sister Sandy and I went to the beauty supply store to pick up some new nail polishes. My other sister Kim introduced this one red polish to me last year that caught my eye when she had it on. It was O.P.I’s An affair in red square. I picked one up for myself on the weekend and I absolutely love it! This red goes perfectly with my skin tone and an added bonus is that it has this nice sheen to it (sort of like a Christmas ornament). I smile every time I look at it because it reminds me of the Holiday Season, which is coming near! YAY!

On Friday night I went over to one of my girlfriend’s place for a casual girls night in. I always have a great time with my girlfriends and it feels so good to catch up with everyone. But before the night began, my girlfriend Betty gave me a haircut! I chopped off a good 3-4 inches of my hair because that was the last of my “dyed” hair. Now my hair is all au-natural! Whoo hoo! It feels super healthy and my head feels as light as a feather =) I love my cut, special thank you goes out to Betty Ly (check her out here– an amazing hairdresser!)
